State Rep. Darlene Senger Announces Campaign for Re-Election
Naperville...State Representative Darlene Senger (R-Naperville) is pleased to announce her campaign for re-election this Thursday, October 22 at 11:30AM under the covered bridge in downtown Naperville's River Walk. Naperville Mayor George Pradel will present opening remarks.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the residents of the 96th legislative district. While I am proud of my accomplishments on behalf of the people of Aurora and Naperville, I believe there is much work to be done," Rep. Senger said.
During her first year in office, Rep. Senger worked as a community activist using her office as a conduit for charitable causes. She volunteered at Loaves & Fishes Community Food Pantry, and partnered with several community organizations to host a Winter Weather Coat Drive and collected back packs for school children.
"I heartily support State Representative Senger's bid for re-election," Mayor A. George Pradel said. "Darlene has been a tireless advocate for the residents of the 96th District and all of the residents of Naperville. Her enthusiasm, responsiveness and knowledge of the community are unmatched."
"The support I have received for my re-election campaign from Mayor Pradel is overwhelming. Knocking on doors, I get a real sense that people are behind what I'm doing in Springfield," Rep. Senger said.
Her first act as state representative included a vote to impeach Governor Blagojevich who is accused of various pay-to-play schemes including an attempt to sell President Obama's former U.S. Senate seat. She also supported several ethics reform initiatives that have been signed into law such as a new website to put state spending online and stronger Freedom of Information Act requirements.
Additionally, Rep. Senger:
- Secured $125 million in capital funds to expand Route 59
- Championed a new law making it easier for the police to catch sexual predators
- Successfully passed a resolution to protect communities impacted by the Canadian National acquisition of the EJ&E Rail
- Passed legislation so that Edward Hospital can open its Freestanding Emergency Center on time
